Problem:

We were working on a basement finish where the clients had electrical and plumbing lines running below the floor joist in their basement.

Solution:

We explored cost options of furring down the ceiling with 2×4’s, rerouting the electrical and plumbing lines into the joists and leaving the ceiling exposed.  It was determined that the most cost effective option was to leave the ceiling exposed and paint it.  We chose a navy blue color (SW 6244 Naval) and it turned out beautiful.  We heard from our clients several months later that they had a plumbing leak (not due to our basement finish work but an old plumbing line) as well as needing a new internet fiber line ran into the basement.  The exposed ceilings made both of these added work items incredibly simple.
